Hey, Helen --you've got to see this. I'm not sure why, but you're the first one I thought of as I was looking at this. Capfka and wow, you're both familiar with the printing process--I think you'll be interested, too. And Father Steve--they used a ba-aa-aad word: flip-book.

There were almost a dictionary's worth (for me) of terms:
abaca; the lost language Ugaritic, which was the first alphabetic cuneiform language discovered; tyvek; kozo paper; full blue French chagrin; German Ingres; gouache; green oasis goatskin; onlays and inlays
(this one, I think I figured out; but I've not see onlay before); shadow-mould paper; and gocco-printed images.
This one they explained: volvelle (revolving wheel).
