For our new members, here is a list of the board adjectives that appear under your names/handles, and the number of posts you have to make to graduate to the next level.

Thanks to Jazz, one of our members, for getting all these straight for us...Stranger(0), Newbie(25), Journeyman(50), Member(100), Enthusiast(200), Addict(400), Old Hand (700) ADDENDUM: we now know that at 1200 posts is Veteran level

What the next level is, we have yet to know....sit, chat, stay for a while, it'll be fun finding out together.

Wot's this, mate? I'm sorry, but we can't just go moving threads around like this! Graduation has been in Miscellany before most of us were members and we can't break such a great tradition.

Plus, it's not really for the new folks anymore.

Geez, the best laid plans of mice and men....

And here I thought the younger generation that was all hyper to change things, now I find out it's me and the younger generation wants tradition. .

I was just thinking that all of these new and confused strangers yarting about the adjectives now have a place to look that isn't too far away (yet).

Bel

Do not be deterred. (Or perhaps in the mood of the current week's themes, be terred!)

I think that Graduation, at least as info about the system, probably best belongs here.

You go girl.

Bel:

Forgive him. He knows not what he said (I think).

tsuwm just pointed out to me what I may have said. So I will now go with you:

Forgive me bel - I knew not what I said

Forgive me TEd - I knew not what I said.

Ah, I am certainly tinguished...(but which one?)

I'll pass on these if you'll just let me have a fifth. Bushmill's would be fine.

Well, since you've been dissed I would guess you are distinguished.

Now THAT is another hateful word: dis. I have actually seen it used in newspaper articles. Makes me want to bushusuru.

Between sniggers at the possible connotations/combinations of bushusuru and memberhood, I'll say congratulations,

Notice my "royal" coloring for the quote!
But--dang, between remarks like yours and Bob's, my rep.

ahhhhh, that'll teach me to read all of the new messages before i begin posting for the day.

i was ignoring the miscellany section, hoping the recess bell would ring and the children chatting around the water fountain would wander back into their classrooms to eat paste or something.

Congrats Madame S. But don`t you just feeeel the whisper of the veteran tag..."post more, post more, you are so close." [evil, hunched over, hand wringing, greasy smile addict emoticon]

So close?! It seems to be taking me forever to get anywhere near veteran. It was only a day or two ago that I passed the halfway point between old hand and veteran. After making 700 posts to move through six levels, having to post 500 more times to move up one level don't seem so close to me, but!

Well Max, if you have an email wiz handy, you could probably set up a routine to spam the board 200 times on your behalf. You could even vary the message each time.

Just a thought...

Hey! Hey! I already did that!
Shamrocks as we are close to St. Patrick's Day and the golden wheel that is part of the Indian flag -- a bow to the Great Anu.
Green and gold.
Evergreen postings and the golden thoughts of the posters. Tah-Dah!
Now, if Sein can think of something even better I will withdraw my suggestion with a cheerful mien.

As some of you may have figured out today, I have posted quite a lot in the last few hours. Why?

Agendum no 1: To convince Anna that it's not all doom and gloom and off-topic stuff. Though I have to admit that I haven't necessarily been completely on-message in all my posts today.

Agendum no 2: Since I am likely to be incommunicado (virtually) for the next few weeks, I will effectively be going cold turkey as far as AWADtalk is concerned. Now everyone knows what a bad thing it is for an addict to go cold turkey. An old hand, on the other hand, can simply be given time off. So yes, sneakily, or perhaps obviously, I have tried to ensure that this post, if my calculations are correct, leaves me able to take some time off.

Of course, being an old hand at 35 definitely makes me feel like one of those stereotypical troglodytes who should have been a grandfather by the age of 35, and dead by the age of 40. Hmmmm... not very comforting thoughts.

And since, though this is only info and announcements, let's save a thread by my asking the question here: Is incommunicado an absolute word like unique, or can one be partly incommunicado?

cheer
