Totally apart from content, Whyin'ell isn't it ASBO?
If NASA is NASA, Asbo should be ASBO. No?

For one thing NASA is a proper name, so all of the elements are capitalized in the expansion. I didn't notice and circumstances prohibit my checking, but is asbo always with a capital A or just at the beginning of a sentence?

If you google <asbo "civil liberties"> you will do yourself the twin favours of finding out that
1. Mostly it get used as ASBO - the usage Asbo may suggest a growing familiarity with the word (expect the verb to be formed around lunchtime tomorrow!), and
b. A lot of people have serious concerns about this measure as yet another derogation from the ancient traditions of jurisprudence (hearsay evidence can result in an ASBO being granted for behaviour found unacceptable against relativistic social criteria, a breach of which in turn can render a citizen a criminal ~ having not previously been accused of a criminal act)

It's also in the news today in the context of the new Chav, er Collins Dictionay:

When I read the opening line I wasn't sure whether they were being ordered to use anti-social behaviour or being given a medal and inducted into the Order of Anti-Social Behavers.

Both are banned from swearing, making rude gestures, damaging property, starting fires and throwing missiles. You gotta be kiddin' me: people don't seriously expect to be able to enforce that kind of a court order, do they???

weeee~lllll... bear in mind this bright idea came from the same bunch of cretins who thought up such other brilliant notions as on-the-spot fines for late-night drunken louts ~ the police were supposed to escort them to the nearest ATM machine!!! mmmmm. That died a sudden death.

don't seriously expect to be able to enforce .. This was also my first thought. The second thought was: Are all the others allowed these things?

> others allowed these things?

Looking at High St, Anytown on Friday and Saturday nights and the answer would have to be: yes!
