This was in our paper today; anybody else think this is really strange--or has heard of this expression--or can tell me what it means?
"I enjoyed your article on cell phones. I have one and carry it around like a pediatric gynecologist. I guess at my age I want to feel connected and that people might want to contact me."

Well, I know someone who had to have a complete hysterctomy at 12 years of age, so perhaps there are paediatric gynecologists.

I suppose that if we still used some sort of case markers on our words it might be a little easier to comprehend what was going on in the speaker's mind.

Maybe I should add my twopence.. I don't find this particularly strange. A pediatric gynecologist certainly is an example of a professional who has to be ready for instant intervention - it need not necessarily be a rape case, but.. (I don't have a cell phone, by the way)
