"Cathew" is the usual spelling, Inselpeter. Perhaps that explains why the meaning is new to you.
Shakes head bemusedly, wondering what part of the world has never heard of Catholics, Jews, or the fruit of the Anacardium occidentale and has no internet access.

Disconcerting as well that everyone has a peduncle but most think you have to be a nut to use it.
