"The Lone Haranguer"? Did you make that one up? I love it! (can I borrow it?)
Good advice, too.
I used to have a long-eared hedgehog named Snoot.

what do you get when you cross hedgehog with a rabbit?
I used to have a long-eared hedgehog named Snoot.
I just have such a CUTE mental picture of a hedgehog with a rabbit face and ears.

That would be cute! Snoot was about the size of a very small guinea pig; pale, pale tan fur on his face and underside and ears about, oh, an inch and a half long, tops. His nose was about that long, too. He was quite shy when I first got him, but became tame and used to handling after a while. We had a rocky start because he'd been bitten by another hedgehog and I had to put ointment on the wound daily, which he didn't much like. But we worked it out. He really was very cute, although not quite as your mental picture would have him! I have a little four-toed hedgehog now, looks very like the English kind, but, again, quite small.
