The gentleman who gave me the word query believed it to be of Seneca Iroquois derivation. He found the word on a land marker on a farm he purchased in Southwestern New York (around the Portville, NY area), but has never been able to find anyone who could give him its meaning. My husband is Seneca, and didn't recognize the word. Thanks for your help.
