OP I find the illustrative quotes sent every day with AWAD emails useful to understanding even if I do not agree with their sentiments. In fact I do not even ask myself whether I disagree with them.
I am willing to explore your sensitivities and the reasons for them. I am also willing to discuss the non-existent groundrules of which you imagine you are an enforcer until the cows come home--whenever that is!
If you want to stop your ears, cover your eyes and ignore my posts however worthy, be my guest! Contributions from the timid, intolerant, narrow minded or unimaginative aren't very interesting anyway!
Your aversion to scriptural quotations is your own business. Do not try to impose your intolerance upon me.
I believe that you are deliberately trying to be offensive by your use of the 'word of dog' for the 'word of God.' Well I can forgive you for that, but will your 'Dog?'
This IS "A Word a Day", not "a religion a day". Actually, I thought of "dogma" when I read oftroy's "word of dog" phrase - you know, as in "My karma ran over your dogma".
OP Dear Elizabeth,
Consider me chilled, but not iced!
Well, as many religions as there are (atheism, secularism, materialism, liberalism, captitalism, the religion of the frozen chosen, etc., etc.) there are many fewer of 'em than words.
I see you bind books. The word 'religion' comes from a root meaning 'to bind' from which we get such words as 'ligament.'
I might have an interest in luxury bindings for some material which I expect to offer for free on the web for those who would like to decorate their shelves with its contents (religious BTW). I wouldn't expect it to be illuminated, only illuminating.

'Bishop' and 'Episcopal' have the same meaning
And I allus thunk the Episcopal Church were named for the Episcope they keep down cellar and you only gets to look through it if you're in the Inner Circle.

What? You have to have circular skin lesions to be a fully paid-up member of the Anglican church? Fie! I think the Padre will have something to say about that!
