When one thinks of a spouse abandoning another, it is probably cultural to assume that it is the man who leaves the woman. When the reverse is true, it seems somehow more noteworthy.
Hence, the Kenny Rogers song of a few years ago:
"You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille
With four hungry children and a crop in the field.
I've had some bad times,
I've lived through some sad times,
But this time the hurtin' won't heal.
You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille."
