A Viennese table is, indeed, a separate table at a feast (often a wedding reception) filled with desserts. Some claim the term to be of Italian origin; some insist that it is Jewish. Nobody seems to claim that it is Austrian. That's odd. Maybe this is one of those terms like "French fry" which have nothing to do with their direct referent.
