One of my students read the term in a book he's reading. I have no idea what a Cattermole coach (capitalized first letter, possibly), might be. Googling images pulls up everything from faces to earth movers, as you might expect.

sounds like a made up word from a kid's book about anthropomorphized animals, using catterpillar as a jumping off point... maybe?

Perhaps it is an allusion to one of George Cattermole’s works, or his particular stylistic treatment of the subjects/objects he painted?
From Encyclopedia.com:
Cattermole, George
1800-1868, English watercolor painter and illustrator. His subject matter was varied, and his works were popular during his lifetime. He painted picturesque scenes of antique subjects in a romantic mode. He made illustrations for some of Dickens's works, including Barnaby Rudge. Cattermole is represented in most of the important British galleries.
