OP There have been posts about this but over a year ago,
so perhaps a repeat is permissible.
From a story about Maine over a hundred years ago. An
herb garden's description mentions:
"One nostrum was called the Indian remedy, and its price was but fifteen cents;...."
A "nostrum" was "our" secret recipe for a privately made
medication, usually containing several ingredients.
