Ipanema always made me think of a brand of toothpaste.Yeah, Bill, it was Ipana toothpaste. Back in the good ol' days when I played a lot of trad jazz for moolah, we used to introduce the song as "The Girl from Ipana". It was appropriate, because there was a girl in an Ipana commercial on TV ...

Apart from ASp and anyone knows bossa nova and jazz.
And it sounds so much better in portugues. Makes the English version sound like a march.

I just found out that Bebel Gilberto is NOT Astrud Gilberto's daughter but rather the daughter of Joao Gilberto and his second wife (Astrud was his first). Bebel sings well, too.
