An impressive title for deep-sea fishing.
Halieutics
Hal`i*eu"tics (?), n. [L. halieuticus pertaining to fishing, Gr. .] A treatise upon fish or the art of fishing; ichthyology.

Oh, what a can of worm you've opened here, wwh! If there are halieutics, then why not treatises on other animals such as anserinics, bovinics, and felinics? (And so on...) Would be a pity to limit these specially-named halieutics to fish.

There is just such a branch of entomology, WW, strictly reserved for ants - Myrmecology. As long as we continue to keep breaking up a large body of science into smaller divisions of specialised interest, we don't have to fear not having enough -ologies- to remember, eh? ..Is there an -ology for giraffes?

Oh, maahey, I've no fear of ologies; in fact, I have a love of ologies.

It just tickled my fancy to consider treatises written on various animals identified as such by the ics suffix:

felinics
avianics
caninics (that's fun to say)

...and so on. I wish it were true! Hey! That makes me wonder how we came to have comics? Comics aren't treatises on anything at all!
