Nesselrode was a highly praised frozen moulded dessert of the middle 1800s. But since a principal ingredient was chestnuts, it may be hard to get now. everytime i look at this thread, i think of frozen charlottes another popular frozen desert from the same time (and doesn't baked alaska date from the same time?) commercial refridgeration had become availble, and chefs had access to cheap ice year round... i wonder if that was part of the reason for the popularity frozen deserts.
