""'I see in St. Louis once what they call a orchestrion,' says Uncle Cal, 'that I judged was about the finest thing in the way of music ever invented." Here's a URL with a picture of one. http://www.usd.edu/smm/orchestrion.html

thanks for that link, Dr. Bill! I had been looking for that site for a long time! I visited that museum, which used to be called the Arne Larsen Shrine to Music after its founder, often when I lived near there. it is truly an amazing place, especially when you consider it's out there on the prairie! well worth a visit if you are anywhere near.

A long time ago... (35 years ago or more)... my father took the family to a special place every summer, quite possibly one of the many reasons I took a liking to music so much... http://mmd.foxtail.com/Archives/Digests/199705/1997.05.03.09.htmlUnfortunately it's closed, but for anyone who has ever gone there (Hey, Faldage!?!) it's worth the trip back down memory lane.
