One of the synonyms give for 'morose' was 'peevish', which does not seem to me to fit. To me 'peevish' means having been annoyed by something that has happened, and as result being inclined to respond in a disagreeable manner.
From AHD:
peevish

SYLLABICATION: pee·vish
PRONUNCIATION: pvsh
ADJECTIVE: 1a. Querulous or discontented. b. Ill-tempered. 2. Contrary; fractious.
ETYMOLOGY: Middle English pevish, possibly from Latin perversus, past participle of perversus. See perverse.
OTHER FORMS: peevish·ly —ADVERB
peevish·ness —NOUN

While to me, peevish seems to imply a disposition rather than an accidental characteristic. A peevish person is easily irritated by trivialities and thus to likely to respond badly to overtures from others.
