The Cougars of Washington State University, despite being highly favoured to win the Apple Cup against their cross-state rivals, the Huskies of the University of Washington, blew a five-point lead in the Fourth Quarter.

The Cougs were ranked #8 in the nation; the Dawgs were not ranked at all. But all bets are off in the Apple Cup ... as was most evident this year.

I will be signing off now, as tears are reputed to short-out the keyboards of computers and mine won't stop flowing. I don't want to go to church tomorrow, because my congregation is made up mostly of Huskies ... who will likely be mean!

It is mixing sports metaphors to quote from a poem which pertains to baseball, but here it is:

Oh! somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville -- mighty Casey has struck out.
