Here is a sentence in which Dickens uses an unexpected word that fits felicitously:
"There was a great deal of good in Mrs. Micawber's heart, which had not been dunned out of it in all those many years."
For those who haven't read the book, the Micawbers were always being harassed by their importunate creditors.
