I am assuming that the carnival is in Venice. What a scene that would be. Masked characters chaosing about trying to protect their own small lights. The costumes with swirling capes and flickering shadows filled with the scent and smoke of the guttering or extinguished candles. You wouldn't need wine to be drunk on such an occasion.
