In my humble opinion, chimpanzee is pronounced with the emphasis on the last syllable, as in chim-pan-ZEE.

That's OK, Father Steve. You don't have to have an opinion on the way you pronounce a word. You can state it as a simple fact.

I'm having a syntax synapse lapse, Father Steve. Is it me, or is there a word missing?

CHIM-PAN-ZEE ~ kinda sounds like it should be japanese; equal stress on all syllables.

pe-O-ny ~ but only because i've never really known how to pronounce it; i've made a mental note to switch to the first syllable.

RO-BOT ~ definitely a spondee

I go with Faldage:

2, 1 and 1 respectively.

Edit: why do you ask?

2nd edit: and why these three words particularly?

you all are morons. yeah chimpanzee can be pronounced with the stress on the 3rd or second syllable, but only on the second if you combine the 2nd and 3rd: chim-panzee. but RO-BOT? what? hell no. RO-bot.

Well, yes...there was. And here's our esteemed movie star in one of his finer moments. A species, I might add, noted for it's high intelligence:

Ah, what fun. Been a while since we've had a brachiating troll around here.

(I wonder if poor ben has been holding his emotions in since last August...?)
