The 18 August 2003 cover of TIME Magazine features a ghastly photograph of (Governor?) Arnold Schwarzenegger with the one-word caption: "Ahhnold!?" The 22 March 99 Word of the Day was "interrobang" meaning: "A punctuation mark used especially to end a simultaneous question and exclamation." One thinks that the ideal interrobang would feature both marks sharing a single dot ... but this one will do as an example.
Personally, I dislike the interrobang. It strikes me as being neither fish nor fowl. I like the idea of one, however, and I would suggest that a new punctuation mark designed specifically for the purpose would be a good idea. Of course, absolutely no one would use it, but, hey, why let reality get in the way?
>neither fish nor fowl
sort of like the rhetorical question then. <g>
Isn't that a question that needs some serious begging?
