that is why the Pre commands exist... use pre and /pre in square brackets, of course, and you can retain any extra spacing, ect, that you want in a post.

Otherwise, HTML tends to ignore (delete) extra spaces.
so if you want this shape

 x   x
   x
 x   x
x     x

and don't use the the pre command, you end up with
x x
x x
x
x x
x x
