It was a crack - I'm recovering from a bronchial cold, and my voice is even more melodious than usual as a result. However, the inflection itself was intentional, designed to convey bewilderment (or, as said in Zildish, bewuld(schwa)ment).

What inflection means

Well, I was assuming it meant a change in pitch or tone, that sort of thing. That was done intentionally, but, as happens with disconcerting frequency for me, my voice cracked as well. So, it was a crack, and the inflection was intentional, at least seen in the light of my neuron's substandard grasp of English.
