No, mav, I don't mean you... [ha, gotcha back e]

Whilst being taken to tourist spots in the Lake District of England, I saw a couple of shops that sported signs saying that that establishment was a stockist for certain brands. Although I got the meaning from the context, I
had never seen that word before. Has anyone seen it in the U.S.--or anywhere else, for that matter?

I've seen it, but don't remember where. Meaning is obvious.
Not in my dictionary. Reminds me of John Wayne movie in about 1948, in which his occupation was "shootist". Meraning he was a hired gun.Plot was he had cancer, and so was ready to die in a gunfight.
When I searched in Yellow Pages, I found a listing for stockists.

but I think we can invoke the Statute of Limitations on mantles... :-)

(caution: the rest of the thread contains Adult Themes) (or juvenile, depending on your point of view)

Is, then, the fine line between juvinile and adult (in this case) similar to the insufferable boundry between a mantle and a yart?

it involves having one of one's posting wearing a mantle of invisibility... or maybe sitting up, in plain site, on the mantle, and still not being seen... or maybe micky mantle... or a fancy bit of china or some other ornament that is known as a mantle peice.. or is the horizontal memeber of a fireplace surround?

you could look it up.. there are several threads about mantles, but the thread tsuwm started, a post about being mantled, is the one most likely to provide an answer. That is if you don't like any of mine!
