Hogwash – Frist
A. Delay or respite, a certain amount of time, as for debt repayment.
B. A quick and lively Hungarian dance.
C. A small rodent native to the highlands of Scotland.
D. To put off until tomorrow, procrastinate. (A scandinavian version of "mañana")
E. A joint or limb; a part formed by growth, and articulated to, or symmetrical with, other parts. From Dutch vuist.
F. Rubbing the hands together.
G. Typically seen in liquor decanters or chemical reagent storage containers, "frist" describes the ground-glass surface where the stopper is in contact with the neck of a glass jar, enabling it to seat snugly.
H. Term used in a gambling card game of German origin. Calling ‘frist’ during another player’s turn means that you will buy the next card to turn up and pay double for it when your turn comes. In this way you have the advantage of improving your hand ahead of time.
I. Type of rock associated with fossils of first flowering plants. (After Frist, Shetland, where first found)
J. The sand to gravel sized bits of colored glass which are used to color or decorate glass before it is blown. This is done by gathering a blob of molten glass on the end of the blowpipe and then rolling it in the frist. The whole is then reheated to melt it together.
K. To try to block or stall a bill from being passed. "The senator is using a filibuster to frist this issue." Named for Senator Bill Frist.
edit: names in lights (in alphabetical order, not in order of appearance)
submissions from: Bingley, Coffeebean, consuelo, dxb, Faldage, Rhubarb Commando, Tross, wofa, Wordwind, wsieber, Zed.

Hey, you! Bean! The Coffee One! You didn't put the submitters' names up--and we like to see our names in lights. That is one odd collection of definitions this time--all over the map. I'm tempted by J, but wonder why 'gravel sized' wasn't hyphenated: gravel-sized. Maybe the hyphen was omitted. I also like K, but I don't know much about politics. E and F are strangely connected... as are I and J. Countries in abundance: Hungary, Scotland (and Scotland again by way of the Shetlands), the whole of Scandanavia, Holland, Germany, and the USA by way of a politician. Eeney, meeny, miney, mo... I'll g with G because I like likker.

Nope, et'. The last three Hogwashes, at least, show the submitters' names from the get-go. Even the Great and Powerful tsuwm put the submitters' names up in the "Lant" Hogwash...an probably others, too, but I didn't check that far back.

I think what WW means (if I may...) is we'd like to see a list of those who submitted. Of course said names wouldn't be attached to their definitions until after the contest ended, silly eta.
I totally forgot to send one in. [sigh]
K I like.

I totally do not understand the point behind H. That is, I fail to see how it could give you any advantage. I'm tossed between G and J. I like the way E is worded but I don't care for it otherwise. My onliest problem with both G and J is that I *don't particularly like the way they're worded, but how do I know what caffeine head has done with the "real" definition?
So I'll go with A.

Perhaps we should re-name the game Nit-wash®??? Yoicks! Nice use of hyphens, eh? Yes, WW, I was pleased with the diversity of the submissions. Very creative folks you are. So much so that I've put your Names In Lights and coined an acronym for you all: NIL.

Nit-wash®
I just figger ifn yer gonna copy the "real" definition straight from a dictionary it should read like a dictionary definition is all.
Frist is where the horse goes out of the barn before the door burns down is not a dictionary definition. That's all I'm sayin'.

I presume that in the NIL context Coffeebean means Real Dictionary Definition (henceforth to be known as RDD)?
