Read an intriguing article about the homes Frank Lloyd Wright designed in a special community 25 miles north of New York City called Usonia. There were 47 of these homes clustered there. But the article mentions there were other smaller Usonias of 4 or 5 homes in Galesburg (state?) and Kalamazoo, Mich. (hi Connie!) Then it goes on to say that, in all, 202 Usonian-style homes were built across the US. And Wright did this work when he was in his 80s! My word-question is, has Usonia and Usonian now crept into the language as a word in its own Wright? (sorry, that just happened!...really)...similar to Utopia and Utopian? I know it seems to be, at least, a word describing a certain architectual style. Jazzo?
Here's the article link. It's an informative read:

And, then, what about other words from architecture? For instance, I'll kick it off with one of the most obvious...gargoyles....was that coined from the name of their originator, etc.?
Here's something from the Web:
"The word "Gargoyle" shares a common root with the word "Gargle"; which comes from "gargouille", an French word for "Throat". A true gargoyle is a waterspout. The word “gargoyle” is also a derivative from the Latin word, “gurgulio”, which had a double meaning, “throat”, and the “gurgling” sound water makes as it passes through a gargoyle"
Had it been a multiple choice, Whit', I would have nailed it. When I read your question about gargoyles, I thought, "I think it has to do with gargling."
The above came from this url:

I read a long time ago that some of the gargoyles are cariacatures some stonecutters made of
their colleagues. The gargoyles were apparently the only carvings in which the stonecutters
apparently were free to choose their subject and style. It appears that there are few if any
identical.
Galesburg is near Kalamazoo/Portage/Climax/Battle Creek

Interesting. I shall have to look into that and try and find some of these houses.
Another interesting architectural development project can be found in Charlevoix, Michigan
