OP Heard a new one yesterday that sounded very appropriate. "Earworm" that annoying little piece of a song that spins in an endless loop in your head.
Zed, that's been a favorite here; it came up most recently just a few months ago, but here is an earlier thread (which I think references a still earlier one):

Yeah, the cyclical nature of the song sample that the 'Ohrwurm' loop must have, yields interesting epistemic assumptions too.
The appeal of naming it 'earworm' in English, via literal translation, seems logical in light of the zoologically fitting, but not really workable 'earwig'.
