It sounded as if the pursuit had reached the point where the van chasseours hand run the quarry to exhaustion, and the parfytours were closing in for the kill. Even at this distance it was clear that some creature's life was in peril.
Chasseours is obviously a variant of chasseurs, but what are parfytours?
And from the same work:

Lungeous -- from lunge? Given to lungeing? Is this a real word?

Parfytours are dogs used to hunt game. As to the etymology, I haven't a clue.
