The AWAD theme for this week is food and drink words from guest wordsmith, author/writer/teacher Brett Jocelyn Epstein*.

The AWAD for Day 5 is "post prandial".
Please scroll down.

The AWAD for Day 1 is "ebrious":

When you're eating fine food, it's salubrious
To take wine, but always un peu less than ebrious.
Excitements haute culinary
Become simply ordinary
When with wine, not with food, you're imbibrious.

Note: 2 of the 3 meanings of "imbibe" at Dictionary.com go beyond the literal meaning of "drinking":

1. To drink.
2. To absorb or take in as if by drinking: “The whole body... imbibes delight through every pore” (Henry David Thoreau).
3. To receive and absorb into the mind:

"Sito" means "food" in Greek.
A sitologist is a nutrition geek.
If you're adverse to food
It's a dangerous mood.
Sitophobia makes you fatally weak.

Polyphagia is called pigging out.
The world champ is Takeru, no doubt:
All comers he whomped
In 12 minutes he chomped
53 hot dogs. "Top dog!", we all shout.

Note: "Hotdogs may have been invented in America - but when it comes to eating them, the Japanese are the best on the planet. At the 2004 World Hotdog Eating Championships on July 4th, Takeru Kobayashi pounded 53 hotdogs in just 12 minutes to set a new world record! That's more than one dog every 15 seconds!"

Bibacious is a fondness for drinking.
It's also a fondnss for thinking
You're so clever on booze
You simply can't lose.
But your IQ is actually sinking.

Fine food may begin with martini
But fine food is never quite fini
Without a liqueur -
Post prandial allure.
Then you'll dance like a tipsy ballerini.

Bonus ALAD: "post prandial narcolepsy"

I once knew a guy with post prandial
Narcolepsy
. Migosh! What a scandal!
Right after dinner
He did a tail-spinner
Into a snoring post prandfall!
