Darwin is mentioning horses being bitten by vampire bats on the "withers". My girls had horses, but I never learned this word. It means the part of the horse which carries a load, namely the part that supports the saddle.I'll bet Jackie is the only member who knew the word.

That I doubt, given that a judge here recently spoke up against the criminalisation of sheep-loving. I do, however, expect recompense for deliberately and consciously providing cues of that sort.
