I am looking for an academic and as authoritative as possible definition of "ex vivo" for our Fungal Group seminar. OED does have definitions of in vivo and in vitro with good examples but not “ev”. A couple of on line medical dictionaries, which I found, do not have "ex vivo" either.

Dear Vika: Y:ahoo! search for "ex vivo" gave a couple dozen examples, though no definition.
But from looking at them, "living" would seem to fit many if not most of them.
