On the subject of laws and paradoxes, here's another.
Hofstadter's Law: the time and effort required to complete a project are always more than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law.
Is this another example of Parkinson's law or Russell's paradox? Or both?
Hofstadter has said of his Law, "Despite being its enunciator, I never seem to be able to take it fully into account.... To help me out therefore, my friend Don Byrd came up with his own law that I have taken to heart:
Byrd's Law:
It always takes longer than you think it will take, even if you take into account Hofstadter's Law.
Unfortunately, Byrd seems unable to take this law into account."
this mind-bending shares with Russell's Paradox the elements of self-reference.
Welcome, averyl! I love your name!
And ohmigawd, if ever something was written especially for me, Hofstadter's Law must be it. Gotta go, I'm late!
