I have memories of the "dilemna" spelling, and wondering how it was pronounced. The Shorter Oxford doesn't even mention it. It may have been in my youth when I was involved in Gilbert & Sullivan -- there's a song in Trial by Jury ("A nice dilemma/dilemna?") -- but surely it wasn't just a misprint?
