We've just heard that "The James River High School library has won the 2002 National School Library Media Program of the Year Award. The $9,000 award will be presented at the American Library Association conference in Atlanta in June...."

Even more commendable is this news:

"James River is the only school in the nation to receive the award this year from the American Association of School Librarians. It recognizes an exemplary school library media program that is fully integrated with the school's curriculum. The library sponsored a community reading project this year centered on the book, A Lesson Before Dying.

"The 'three Anns' who make the library an integral part of the school and its community are librarian Ann Martin, assitant librarian Ann Reinke and library assistan Ann Swiatoviak."

Just wanted to tell you all this news because I'm very proud of the educators here in Chesterfield County, Virginia, where I teach.

Proud of Chesterfield,
WW

Dear WW: Virginia does indeed have some very fine Libraries. I used the one in Arlington, the one in Herndon, and the one in Manassas. All deserved very high marks. If yours beat them at anything, it is indeed something to brag about.

Hearty Congratulations WW!
I am a lover of libraries ... never been in a bad one. It's just that some are more equal than others. (Look who made a literary reference!)
Sounds your library is *The Equalist!

Wonderful, WW! A heartfelt burst of kudos and congrats for endeavoring to keep literature alive and before the eyes of young readers! And for helping maintain the library as a place of importance in the community!

I don't merit these congratulations at all! Heavens! I'm just proud of Chesterfield County education here in Virginia, and was delighted to read that one of our high schools had received this national award. Since the reward was for an outstanding library, I just thought to post it here in my burst of enthusiasm.

"Brag on"--strictly a country (rural) expression.

Most would say "brag about"!
