Thanks to Jackie's having been appointed administrator, I am going to try to participate here again.
Since ModestGoddess was willing to lay herself bare emotionally, I will follow her lead and do the same. I have a problem with depression. The contentiousness that has been displayed here in the recent past triggered a fall into an emotional abyss from which I was unable to extract myself sans medication. The demons have by no means been extirpated, only held at bay. I therefore implore those of you who have a tendency to snipe and peck and claw and chew at one another to consider the fearsome impact your words may have on others. To be sure, I have been far too sensitive. But am I the only one to feel the sting of invective not aimed at himself?
I do not expect to be a part of the family here, but I do implore you to permit me to be a resident alien, and to contribute what little bits I can.
Thanks for sharing what you did! That was courageous. I think you'll find if you read the 'magesterium' threads in I&A that there are a lot of people here attempting to address some of the concerns you've expressed. I hope you find it much to your tastes this time around. I think I remember you saying before that you wouldn't read PMs. I'm not sure if that's still true, but I'm going to write one to you anyway. Hope you read it.
Returning can be harder than leaving, I've found--but diving back into the threads is the best cure of all. Very happy to read here that you've decided to dive again. There are some wonderful threads here alive and kicking with energy, information, and wit, so your own writing will add to the fun that's churning around below I&A. We're actually talking a lot about words and language again--and all seems very well down there in Q&A, WP, and M Lands--Animal Safari is slow, as usual, as well as the lands below the equator, but words, glorious words, have become the point again. Hooray! And with your own sense of humor, things jes' be gettin' better all the time!
And Jackie--she ain't gonna put up with the blastardly, dastardly flares of hatred. We gotta good administratrix in her big ol' heart, you know! She gonna bite them flamin' dragons' heads off if them flames be hurtin' peoples. She gots long tooths--I seen 'em!
Wonderful to see you back - sorry for the pain that caused you to leave in the first place - proud of the strength that permits you to try again. And keep in your in mind that it's not a failing if you ever want to take time away again, nor a capitulation to return once more...

Geoff, welcome back! Never mind your non-expectations -- you are one of the family. It's like having a brother return after being away in the wars. This is really a happy event; you have given us much pleasure today.
