you all have set a new standard for... sumtin' -- this time we are graced with definitions from max(!) and teD(!!), as well as the usual gang of suspects (Whitman, Brandon, Sparteye, Jazzo, Flatlander, Bingley, Fiberbabe, Bobyoungbalt, caradea, maverick, jimthedog, and tsuwm).
so, here we go for hyphear; choose one:

a) a kind of mistletoe
b) a state of mild depression; low-spiritedness
c) a situation in which a large ego is depleted
d) of or relating to horses, equestrian
e) a plant which lives in a commensal type of symbiosis at or near the tops of trees, esp. of the genus Fagus or Betula
f) a small rubber or plastic sheath at the point where an electrical cord enters an appliance which prevents the cord from crimping
g) a rare type of amber, black in colour
h) of or relating to the light of a variable star, which pulsates in a regular cycle
i) an outer garment used as ex cathedra casual vestments in the Greek Orthodox Church
j) a mondegreen of 'I fear'
k) a compound used in papermaking to dissolve raw fibers
l) the bulbous cap on a mushroom's head
m) a variety of long-eared corn bred to feed livestock
n) a golden circlet worn by astrologers that has a miniature version of the solar system engraved on its circumference, supposed to impart wisdom to the wearer
o) wife (from Hymen, God of marriage and phear, variant of fere, companion or spouse)

I'm convinced it's some kind of vegetation, but there are 4 possible vegetative defs. So by a process of divination akin to dart-throwing, I shall go with A.

My father had a classmate with the last name "Gungus". Kids being kids, they used to taunt this fellow with the chant "There's a fungus among us and his name is Gungus." I'll go with L

With lots of inventive and plausible options I have no clear idea for this one. So I will try a little experiment in psychology by following the dawg: gimmE!
