this is what I am saying

Those pesky what? What is word for the things that can go wrong on a plan? If there is even one!

If you want to make it into a trip/travel metaphor, there are often unexpected, unwanted, unanticipated potholes along the way...

(Didn't notice - the issue is by now most likely moot: the question was posed last September)
