many of these internet initialisms predate texting - I started seeing them when I first began frequenting USENET forums, which predated internet forums such as this one (this would have been during the 90s).

Like you say, a precursor to UBB.
I'd used terms such as WYSIWYG and GUI and HUI as well

I don't text Rhub, so you've got me. But surely you will remember now, Luke that AFK = Away From Keyboard! You have come across it before.....when wofahulicodoc said it recently. And its not to far to figure out that RTK means the Rhuby has returned (to keyboard)
