I have a back ground in football. Back in the late 70s and early 80s, we had a word or a term we used when the hitting...the contact got ferocious. There was an audible sound you could hear and we called it klakium. (I always assumed it was spelled that way. I mean do you really think someone would ask how to spell that?) Anyway one of the words in last weeks list was claque-Pronounced - klak people hired to attend an event and applaud. After seeing that I think a new word in the English sports lexicon is needed. To go along with to the house, beast mode, vertical, downtown, the little known word outside of football huddles, called claqueium should be added to common usage. Claqueium - the sounds and actions when an event become extraordinarily strenuous or ferocious.
there is clack - n. 3) a sharp abrupt noise or succession of such noises often produced by the striking together of objects
in your case, the objects striking together are footballers.
- ron o.
