Wiki says he was named after his uncle, but there are other notions percolating about the net. Anyone have a credible etymology for the name "Plaxico?"

It is a last name. Google plaxico -burress you'll find a bunch of people with that last name.

Answers.com says it's Latin for 'peaceful' but I dunno. Maybe something related to 'please'. I've got sources.

Pax is peace. My Latin dicts. say peaceful is quietus, placatus, pacificus. But it could be a derivation I suppose. I was thinking of the "X" like in Oaxaca, the Aztec derivation of some place names in Mexico. Or Toltec if not Aztec.
