Hi,
This is my first post so I hope I am doing it correctly.

Growing up in the 50's and 60's my mother coined this word. It was not in the dictionary until fairly recently as far as I can tell. A lot of people I speak to don't know of it or its meaning. Griping + Bitching

Could anyone tell me when it was added?

Thanks

I had an uncle who used the term, and that was back in the
1950's, so it has been around awhile, I guess.

here's one source, from onelook.com, if you want to try that:
Dictionary of American Slang and Colloquial Expressions by Richard A. Spears.Fourth Edition.

edit: I also tried this:
gritching

Sorry, not being very helpful but I couldn't resist.
