Interesting how the etymological origins of Tabu became acquainted with Tonga due to captain Cook having first heard it there.

Hehe, yeah nah!

I just found the attribution of the origin of the word Tapu/Tabu to Tonga (because mr Cook first heard it there) curious. Since the word had been in use by many peoples prior to his arrival in the pacific.
