Seems it was more named after a place that happened to be called Weeping Waters rather than being called Weeping Waters per se. Of course, considering the differences or opinion over the meaning of the treaty, maybe Weeping Waters isn't so bad a name after all. I noted in the Wiki explanaton that there were significant differences in the Maori and British interpretations of the treaties. Sounds like something that would have happened here in the Great Plains, with the natives and the Europeans having different ideas of what treaty meant.
