There is an interesting story in the Scripture/Torah of Jacob's
wife Rachel stealing her father, Laban's, household gods, and
then feigning illness, to hide them. Confer Genesis 31, especially verses 19 and 34.

Glad to oblige: Rachel used the excuse she was in her monthly menstrual cycle, uncomfortable, and would rather not oblige her father.
