Anybody who can't use the word resistentialism or one of its deriviatives just isn't paying attention to the universe.

Socks that notoriously escape, leaving a pair mate behind, must be among the resistentialists.

resistentialism (ri.zis.TEN.shul.iz.um) n. The belief that inanimate objects have a natural antipathy toward human beings, and therefore it is not people who control things, but things which increasingly control people.
  But they do

Looks like you encountered resistentialism at the keyboard when you were typing your subject. Just goes to prove the point...

My computer always does exactly what I tell it to do. If only it could think for itself I wouldn't blame it so often. 'Puters' exist to soak up our time, under the guise of being 'useful tools' Their ultimate goal is to propogate frustration and dissent among us mere mortals so that we create more of them. Bigger, faster, flasher, we are there playthings.....Anyway, back to work.

and you can blame microsoft for that spelling mistake as well... Assuming you were referring to deriviatives, nope. Microsoft had nothing to do with it. It was done using Firefox on a Linux system.

I could have sworn he said "there" instead of "their" - either he edited his post or (more likely) I'm just seeing things.

He did write "there", and you could have made the point by quoting him.

I have considered, usually fleetingly, how much to use the reason for editing field as a confessional of compositional shortcomings, or any other failures or transgressions. There may be a character limit.

There may be a character limit. not in this place. Quite. There are some real 'characters' around here. And some of them know no limits.

I'm still trying to figure out what character-shaping influences the board architecture has on participants here. One architectural fact is that any post to a thread, post original thread post, is directed at someone else—unless directed at oneself, if one has posted to the thread. The unavoidable engagement could wither the psyche, or cultivate a marauding monster, or have any of a number of character-shaping effects. I'm not suggesting any such thing has happened to any thread-present company—or hasn't.

Something like this: The board participant may find information and fun and invigorating conversation here. May, I said.

Sorry Morphememedley, the withered souls scared me into the defense, I believe people can change mostly on a social behaviour level, but that the center part of a personality does not change much.
  Well........Googed results:
295,000,000 English pages for people don't change.
55,700,000 English pages for people change

If no one else will bump the post title bearing my handle out of the prominent most recent spot for the topic in Active Topics, I will.
I waxed hyperbolic with “wither the psyche” where I could have used intimidate. I am a scary guy, though, underneath the waxing. I'll move on so as not to scare myself.

Having spotted the Smiley Face standing alone, where It may be confronted without my inflicting collateral damage, I shall present It with a challenge. Smiley Face, read aloud the passage below as rapidly as is facially possible, at all times keeping those mouth corners held high. Klappertandend kwam Kees Koukleum kolen kopen. Kijk kijk, kakelde kolenkoopman Kuipers. Kees klappertandt! Koud, Kees? Kerel, klaagde Kees. Krakende knieën, klapperende kiezen, compleet knikkende kuiten. Curieuze kou, knikte Kuipers. Koop kolen, knul! Kolen kunnen kou klein krijgen! The above passage may be found at 27 here, and a rough translation at 27 here.

12 seconds. I give back 98 :
Wat was was eer was was was? Eer was was was was was is.
What was wax(= was) before wax(= was )was wax(= was)? Before wax(= was) was wax(= was) wax( =was), was "is".
wax translates to was. (was also translates to the noun 'laundry').
TV came in during the sixties. Till then we did silly word games round the central pot of hot potatoes (Van Gogh) while western gales were lashing the trembling windows.
