Allright Penny, here's my report: it's almost midnight. I did 700 grains for you. Tomorrow I'll take some rice, count each grain up to 700 ( ) and will describe you how that looks. 3 missers, level 27, whatever that means. It was fun.

its a great site isn't it? i've shared it with several of my knitting BB's,
Last week (no make that the week before thanksgiving week) there was a blurb and link about the site on the Evening news with katie couric.. (her kids are word nerds.. once, when she was a guest on the Tonight show, she mentioned one of her kids learned the word, callipygian, a word i first learned here (from tsumw))

well, knit one purl two. Looks like 6 degrees of separation is alive and knitting. This site test really stimulates the intuitive gland. I'm gonna send a 25 lb. bag of rice and keep playing

3 missers, level 27, whatever that meansIf you click on "more" at the bottom of the Freerice screen, it takes you to the FAQ, which explains interesting things, such as sponsorship and what the levels mean. I like these folks.

Cool link. I am proud to say that I have reached 49 at one point so far, but I tend to hover around 46-47.

I learned about it from a colleague the day before Thanksgiving and got to level 45 in about 15 minutes. I then passed the URL on to my spawn who each got a kick from it. Usually we play pictionary, but maybe this xmas we'll do that and intersperse it with some freerice. Good idea.

"There are 50 levels in all, but it is rare for people to get above level 48."
"FreeRice can now remember your vocabulary level and totals for each time you play. See Options."

Penny,a very good addictive training game. Here are 700 grains alongside a normal pencil. We have to make some thousands each to get something substancial together,I fear.I'll pass it on to friends and fam.700 grains

It's a lot of fun but the web site itself is so unreliable that I often have to hit reload or back up and enter my choice again. Do any of you also experience this problem>

But 700 grains times 10 people is a full stomach at one meal at least. I will definitely pass this one on to friends.

Great fun! Thanks.I managed a maximum of 48, while hovering between 45 and 47 most of the time. - I'll certainly recommend the site to friends.

BTW: This, I believe, is my first post to the Wordsmith forum. - Hope to visit more often.

Coincidences in figures. I'm at 4440 grains. My actual resumed voc.level is 40. My best level is 44.4440 grains is approx. 6x700 grains. Seen my 700 in the cup-measure glass, I guess it's close to a quarter cup.
But a million quarter cups make a lot of cups. It's a super word training tool.

Welcome SkriveynI was briefly at 46 and make it only to 4?? grains but my coffee break was over and I didn't think my boss would accept free rice as an excuse.
