I hear that "Cattle" is a "mass" or collective noun and may not have a singular. Or if it does it is "cow", which does not seem satisfactory to me. I also find "ox" proposed as a singular for "Cattle" (and oxen), which I like better than "cow". Does anyone have any insight on this?
