The Word a Day quotation for July 11 was a beautiful one from Tagore which leads me to ask about another quotation attributed to him: "Death is not extinguishing the light ; it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come." For several months I have been searching for the source of this quotation because I would like to read the larger context for it. Does anyone know of the Tagore work in which it can be found?
Googling:
because the dawn has come
yields 3000 hits

Shoot, swd, I'm giving up. I googled "Death is not extinguishing the light" and found many promising hits; but nothing was obvious. I even found a site where you could search his poems by first lines, and...no matches. So maybe it's not from a poem? There are plenty of pages of quotations, but that won't answer your question. I tried Bibliomania, but they don't have Tagore listed.
A long shot--you might try Amazon.com and bring up books by him--you might just see this as a "sample of what's inside".
a myriad of unsourced quotes
(NOTE to prescriptivists, myriad not meant to suggest 10,000, but lots)

A search in Google books yielded zero hits, but that might be because he originally wrote in Bangla, perhaps.
