p.s. - if none of these is "good" enuf for you, M-W Unabridged (W3), or OED3 (beyond OED2) are available at a premium, or the latter can be sometimes accessed via your library card.

I meant the pocket dictionaries. I want to have something I can toss in my purse

If you're going to toss it in your purse, why not a brick and mortar pocket dictionary? No worries about batteries giving out on you.

boy, howdy! once again demonstrating conclusively that one should never ass-u-me.

(but, as a further digression, I see that OneLook has finally (for the first time in six(6) months) re-indexed some dictionaries, and dictionary.com now lays claim to 710879 words!)
